She said yes.
I feel like a weight's been lifted off my shoulders. I proposed to Van last week, and she said yes. We're now engaged.
Life will be so different now. After all this time (and several missed opportunities) I finally screwed up the courage to ask her.
Ever since my US trip, when disaster struck (and even after all this time, I still don't want to talk about that), it seems as if the universe was determined to put off my proposal. There was the difficulty (hah, an understatement) in finding the perfect ring. Then I had to play the family and friends card to convince van to fly home with me this June.
And still. and still. We spent a night in Balai Laiya in Batangas, and I did it on top of the tower overlooking the beach. The entire resort was deserted save for the two of us; in the distance we could hear the sound system of a local San Juan fiesta. I asked her; she kept saying, Oh my God. The night was dark and starless, we sat down and thought about what we'd just agreed to do. We walked down the tower happier than when we came up. It's yet to sink in.
I feel, well, complete. I want to come home to the UK and call up everyone I know. I want to stay here and savor the moments while I still can. I want to run away with her for a year and a day. And still, and still.
Everything is alright, because she said yes.
