Picnic baskets and all
Good Friday indeed.
Went on the London to Brighton Run (the 2001 MG Regency Route which I got from an excellent drivers' site) in the Roadster. The weather was perfect for a top down, slightly asthmatic but perfectly behaved MGB. Anj came along (only after last minute change of change of heart!) to nagivate.
After some confusion round Cobham we managed to make sense of the directions. The country round south Surrey and West Sussex is fantastic, sloping hills and old woodland with just the right amount of shade, bendy but well paved roads that would bore a faster car but seemed perfect in the roadster - I swear, there is nothing like a top down car on a (mostly) sunny day.
Finally pulled into Madeira drive just past one, and took some lunch near the pier. We parted ways at about 4-ish (anj had to get back for Good Friday mass) and at about five I drove down the south coast towards Hastings. The drive between Brighton & Eastbourne was spectacular - what I could see from the rearview mirror anyway. Pulled into Hastings just after seven, sputtering and roaring to the finish of a beautiful, beautiful day.
